 URC ministerial Placemen

I have been asked by the URC North West Synod to supervise within our circuit a URC ministerial candidate by providing ministerial experience at Trinity URC Methodist Church, Rishton Methodist Church and Rishton Methodist Primary School for 6 months. The candidate, Mr. Aftab Mughal, has specific learning goals and time commitments amounting to around 1-2 days per week. These have been set by his training institution.  Aftab's primary focus in this placement will be around worship and pastoral care, as well as non-ministry church managed contexts like meetings, community-based groups and other events within the circuit.  This placement begins on 29th April. If you see Aftab around, please make him feel welcome.  Rev. Mark

Message from Rev Phil Gough

Dear Friends in all the Churches in the Lancashire Methodist District.  You are invited to join in the closing act of worship at Synod on Saturday 27th April, as we seek to celebrate, for a final time, the life of the Lancashire Methodist District and give thanks for all that has been shared over the years.
This is being held at Church Road Methodist Church, St. Annes, in the Blackpool & South Fylde Circuit (FY8 3NQ) and will start at 1.00pm. We look forward to welcoming back Rev'd Stephen and Deacon Myrtle Poxon and Rev'd Paul and Mrs Elizabeth Davis for this occasion, and will hear messages from others with connections to the District. The gathering will end with the sharing of Holy Communion, finishing by 2.30pm.  You are very welcome to join us for this very special event if you are at all able.

Thy Kingdom Come 9th – 19th May 2024

I hope this finds you well and enjoying this Eastertide.  It has been good to hear about the various local events that took place in Holy Week and Easter.  We are now on the journey to Pentecost with the ten days from Ascension to Pentecost marked out with the global ecumenical programme of prayer “Thy Kingdom Come”.   You are encouraged to come together ecumenically to pray for each other, each community and for the world.   I have put the resource links onto  the Churches Together in Lancashire website, you can access them here:  https://www.ctlancashire.org.uk/thy-kingdom-come-ascension-to-pentecost-2024/   Please do let me know about your events which I will happily share across our network of churches and groups.

AND FINALLY…(A  Musical Disappointment .)

Wanting to try my hand at a new musical skill, I left a voice mail for the Oswaldtwistle Campanology Society last week.

I'm still waiting for them to give me a bell.

Why do French people eat snails?

Because — They don't like fast food!

Methodist thought for the day

On our walk with you, we rest for a while, listen
and worship, for you are
the one who guides us,
the one who feeds us,
the one who blesses us
and the one who keeps us safe. On our walk with you,
we rest for a while, listen
and worship.
