 Easter Offering Envelopes

A big thank you to those of you who have already responded to this appeal, and have made a donation. Envelopes are still available in the foyer and can be returned to church via the collection plate. Thank you once again for your generosity and prayerful giving.  Margaret

Alterations to the Church heating system

At the time of going to press we now have heating panels working in both the church and the foyer and bar panels in the meeting room. It is planned to add radiator covers to the panel heaters which are very hot to the touch. The hot water heater for the kitchen sinks is also wired in.  Unfortunately, there was a delay in the delivery of our brand new cooker, though it is anticipated that this will arrive soon.

Solar Panels are in place and three batteries fitted into the “Plant Room” (previously known as the boiler Room). Security cameras have been installed.

Further delay has been caused through replastering and a buckling on the parquet flooring. At present there is a large dehumidifier working in the church and it is hoped that the floor will be repaired early next week.

We are grateful to our Contractors “Help You Save” for all their patience and hard work to make everything right for us.

Message from Rev Anton Muller (County Ecumenical Officer)

Thy Kingdom Come 9th – 19th May 2024

I hope this finds you well and enjoying this Eastertide.  It has been good to hear about the various local events that took place in Holy Week and Easter.  We are now on the journey to Pentecost with the ten days from Ascension to Pentecost marked out with the global ecumenical programme of prayer “Thy Kingdom Come”.   You are encouraged to come together ecumenically to pray for each other, each community and for the world.   I have put the resource links onto  the Churches Together in Lancashire website, you can access them here:  https://www.ctlancashire.org.uk/thy-kingdom-come-ascension-to-pentecost-2024/   Please do let me know about your events which I will happily share across our network of churches and groups.

Afternoon Tea & Film

Unfortunately, owing to delays in the installation of our new heating system at Rishton Methodist Church, we will not be able to run the film afternoon this coming Wednesday.  Apologies for this!

Methodist thought for the day

Prayer: based on Psalm 4

Dear God,
the world always seems
to be clamouring for more.
No one seems to be contented these days.

Things are always being stirred up
and there is envy and greed all around.
In the middle of all this,
help us to remember the many times
when you have helped us,
and been there when we needed you,
and then guide us in ways of helping others
to find that peace of mind for themselves.
