Our preacher on Sunday 13th July at 10:30 will be Stephen Colling. Steward: Kath Bridges. This is our Gift Day and everyone is invited to share light refreshments and listen to the band in the afternoon from 14:00 till 16:00 that afternoon.
Gift Day Sunday 13th July 2-4pm at The Church.
Julia and Ian Kitchin will celebrate their Diamond wedding on 17th July and in recognising this, they will be providing the refreshments at the Rishton Gift Day (Sunday 13th July: 2pm-4pm) and looking forward to seeing you all there.
They were married on the Saturday of the 'July Holidays' 1965 and, after honeymooning in Wales, moved into temporary rented property next to the Greyhound Track in Blackburn.
Their first encounter with Rishton Methodist Church was attending the evening service on 1st August when Annie Butler was the preacher. Here, they were made welcome and soon integrated into the society. The Methodist Church became their main interest and they served the church at local, circuit, and district levels for over 50 years 'til old age and infirmity overtook them.
They were blessed with three children whose upbringing in the church is reflected in that one is now Anglican, one Methodist and one Baptist!
New Nursery at Rishton Methodist
We now have a nursery section at our school and anyone seeking places for pre-school children is invited to an Open Morning on Monday 14th July between 10:45 and 11:45. See poster below.

AND FINALLY.. ( From "More nonagenarian nonsense ").
I well remember the time when not being that well-off our family held my ninth birthday party in the local laundrette.
The highlight of the afternoon was a game of ' pass the Persil’...and Grandma celebrated in Comfort!
Time to reflect
A poem written by Marjorie Dobson on the theme of Consequences, based on today’s lectionary reading of Naaman the Syrian (2 Kings 5 vv 1-14)
One young girl, captive and in service.
One rich lady with an ailing husband.
One powerful man, conscious of his status.
One young girl speaking of God’s healer.
One anxious wife passing on the message.
One desperate man seeking a solution.
One hermit prophet giving simple orders.
One haughty general fearing humiliation.
One wise advisor speaking words of caution.
One plunge in Jordan, Naaman healed from leprosy.
One wise advisor, glad that Naaman listened.
One hermit prophet knew that God would do it.
One powerful man, faith found in humility.
One rich lady happy with her servant.
One young girl thanked God for her courage.
One major miracle from many simple actions.
